Finally watching Withnail & I in HD, thanks to Netflix streaming 🙂 One of my fave movies ever, never seen it anything but lousy quality.

@don_rivers You remember Twilight Zone??? (Firstly, I guess I didn’t know/forgot you were here then.) Same age – how did we never meet??
|
|
|
@don_rivers Though, I didn’t really have any computer geek friends. I was on a TI, incompatible with everyone 😛

@don_rivers Ah, we were a year or two apart. And I went to a private high school, so yeah, I guess we just barely missed each other.
|
|
|
@don_rivers Ah yes, the bad old days of zero compatibility but as I recall TI was an underdog and least similar to anything (besides Amiga).
|
|
|
@don_rivers Erm, I mean, the Amiga’ers were as bad off as the TI’ers. Seemed most casual micro owners had a C64 – nobody had a TI.

🙁 🙁 🙁 RT @PSLifeStyle: New blog post: Mirror’s Edge 2 Is Officially No More http://bit.ly/hoptlX
It’s been over a week that my twitters weren’t posting to facebook so I’m gonna bypass that and crosspost a different way now.

Wow. It’s a disheartening moment when you call to upgrade to a faster internet package and you’re told you’re already at the maximum.
We use the hell out of some internet. Mom’s constant online gaming, my ‘net radio all day, maybe Netflix or Vudu movie in the evening.
Oh, and the recent addition of Wesley’s "Word World" (excellent educational show) in the afternoons, via Netflix streaming in HD.
You’d think a 12mb line would be enough. Cable, though. I obviously need to do some optimization. About which I know nothing 😛 Sigh…
I started with a 300 baud modem on a TI-99/4A when was 11 (26 years ago!) and the world was mine (TradeWars!). Now 12mb/s ain’t enough.
I actually co-sysop’ed the Twilight Zone BBS right here in Alamogordo (with Dick Sheffler and Bill English) when I was a teen.
(btw locals, yes, that Bill English)
It pains me no end that there doesn’t seem to be even one pic of my computer set-up when I was a kid. I got rid of it all when I was 16.
I had the big expansion box, voice synthesizer, WarGames playing on my VCR, etc. 😛 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Texas_Instruments_TI-99/4A
Btw, Tierra Del Sol – with whom I left the strongly worded voicemail when the truck they "fixed" left us stuck – hasn’t bothered to call me.

Well, we seem to have fixed the truck with a lot of help from Terra’s dad and our neighbor who stepped in and saved the day 🙂
Swapped out the brake master cylinder, flushed/bled the whole system, and now we’re off to walmart to try it out and so far so good! 🙂

Terra and I are sitting here on the couch, staring off into space, trying to think of some ‘glass half full’ stuff.
She secured a ride to get the parts we need. I guess tomorrow morning, I’ll see if I can do the swap-outs. How hard can it be? o.O
@RamboKK Yeah, I think my point was it never stops and the only attitude I can change is mine or else I end up genuinely despising them.
@RamboKK Try to take comfort that a lot (most?) of us go through it. Otherwise you DO start wondering if you’re really as bad as they say 😛
This IS what we want next. For an intimate little coffee ritual in the sitting room — Yama Tabletop with Metal Filter http://bit.ly/f3E5Fz
@RamboKK Yeah, it’s why I follow you – I get tweets from a few random locals. Though I think we were both Plateau regulars at the same time.
@RamboKK I knew a couple Rachels at Plateau when I used to go there every night a couple years ago. Just don’t know if you’re one of ’em 🙂
Posted @ABQChristopher right on!.
If we ever get extra money it’s our next coffee purchase 😛 Otherwise, birthdays hit this summer 🙂 When we get, all tweeps are invited! 😉
Got Papa John’s delivery for dinner – seemed a good day to open the Sebastiani 2006 Merlot (sonoma county) we’d been saving – it’s AMAZING.
So far, Repo – The Genetic Opera is the best DTS mix I’ve heard on a blu-ray so far.

Getting white chocolate and red food coloring. The intention is a pink fondue for our valentine’s day spn – we’ll see if it works.
NOT happy with a certain auto shop on 1st st who gave the truck a clean bill of health yet we just had to walk halfway home from the store.
Are we the only ones having internet issues?? Usually when there’s an issue I see locals tweeting, but nobody is – ours is horrible all day.
Since Netflix IW isn’t working, we can’t watch Terra’s choice Sweet Home Alabama – we’re watching her dvd of Hope Floats. Chick flickerific.
The "pink chocolate" fondue is great, btw. And the Irish Coffee with it is – erm, was. hic! – excellent 🙂
And we’ve finally answered the question. Knickers, while an unfortunate name, turns out is an excellent Irish Cream. And we’re REALLY picky.
@don_rivers I was afraid you’d say something like that.
I need that thing in The Matrix to download massive knowledge instantly so I could know how to go make the truck right. Brake trouble 🙁
Or say screw it, the world can turn without me today, and go to Cruces with @don_rivers. Sigh. I wish.
It’s been a working on the truck day. Joy. It seems things are worse now. Though, got the choke adjusted correctly, it seems.
But, it seems we blew the master cylinder on our way to get parts we now don’t know if we needed or not. Limped home on the emergency brake.
Do I sound like a real man now?
Posted @ABQChristopher yes! lol. -

Just had an ex sighting at Walgreens. Mine this time. My ex pastor 😛 Long story.
I’ve said for years: If I couldn’t have a home coffee bar, 2nd choice would be home ice cream sundae bar. I’d put in the same enthusiasm.
Shared 14 cities declare disaster.
Shared Dentist.
Shared e cigarettes [varies].
Tonight will be a special valentine day edition slumber party with chocolate fondue, irish coffee, and the sappiest movie Terra can find 😉
Just heard in a country song on an old tape I found: "She took my keys away and now she won’t drive me to drink."
Been working around the kitchen and bar, listening to a cassette of The Lost Tapes with George Gimarc I recorded off the radio 12 years ago.
The short-to-the-point-of-misleading answer to "What’s The Lost Tapes?" is a talk show about pop music that aired every Sat night for years.
George Gimarc knows probably everything about music history and has a mind-manglingly massive collection of rare recordings.
No idea why it’s been a few days since my tweets stopped posting to Facebook but it looks like it’s just you and me for now, uh, ‘tweeps’.
Did not know he had an entry on Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_Gimarc He obviously deserves one.
Anyway, I have about 30 of The Lost Tapes I recorded off radio in tha day. I probably have more of his show than I do The Dr. Demento Show.
New trinket on the bar: Bottled Poetry (wine) http://flic.kr/p/9hp846

Comic books b2g1free at Hastings and the display moved back can’t be a good sign. Terra’s pretty hooked at this point.
Can’t decide which I love more, The Darjeeling Limited or The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou. Passionate about both lately.
I want to be a Wes Anderson character. Hm. Who am I kidding? I already am. He needs to write me a part so I can get paid for this!
@don_rivers Zissou is more technically intricate, surreal; Darjeeling more emotionally engaging. Both a stylistic "see also" to Tenenbaums.
