now it’s the headphone jack in @nurseterra‘s PSP – only one chan coming thru. And Sony buried it deep in there, not sure I want to risk it.

On the 1st gen PSP, hphone jack, wifi card, card reader are all one board. Not so on later models, so the part replace is allegedly simpler.

But I don’t have a perfect record when it comes to successful hardware fixes so i’m a little nervous. Especially since it’s not my PSP.

I assume her headphone problem is probably just a bent contact I can fix but i’d rather have a replacement in hand before I open it.

@don_rivers I blush to admit Ive somehow never tried to solder and "Terra, I’m gonna learn to solder on your PSP" prob won’t go over well 😛

@don_rivers my money says it’s a bent contact – the problm started with a plug (to the truck stereo) that she says resisted when put in/out.

@don_rivers BUT her power jack shows signs of broken board contact, too, so perhaps they both require gentler handling than they’ve had.

I went from rarely gaming to being torn between Tomb Raider Underworld, Dead Space, Valkyria Chronicles, and Final Fantasy IX. It’s a phase.

And playing Gauntlet Legends (on Dreamcast) with Wesley has been a lotta’ fun. Hoping to get Mom and @NurseTerra to join in 🙂

Hm. Wal-mart has DVD+Blu combo packs of the first two Toy Story’s for $20 each BUT they are in DVD cases.

watched 9 – it was very impressive.

I care nothing for sports but they are offering a free weekend of the PS3 MLB.tv app so I’m having a look and it is pretty amazing.

This MLB.tv app is the sort of thing the PS3 needs A LOT more of. adhocParty, Photo Gallery, very good video chat, now this – a good start.

PS3 video chat is a miracle at xmas – window between our living room and that of my brother and his fam so mom can see gkids open presents.

Just discovered my voice mail has been screwed up for what must be weeks – it doesn’t notify me I have msgs so I just found a bunch. Grrr.

May or may not go see Toy Story 3 today. Will eventually even though I swore I wouldn’t. Feels like a betrayal. But, it’ll be fun.

Toy Story 3 represents years of controversy – Disney basically stealing it, saying they’d make it with or without Pixar – that’s just wrong.

I’m a huge Pixar fan and have been pissed for years Disney forcing Pixar to help them. Yeah, Pixar was hungry and signed away their rights.

If i’m not mistaken, this is the first Pixar film not written by anyone from Pixar – at least it’s a Pixar director (Unkrich (TS2, Nemo)).

At one point, Disney fully took over Toy Story 3 and wouldn’t even let Pixar be involved. Those two need to break up and not make up again.

See, Disney learned great tricks from Pixar and started doing their own in-house stuff (eg. Bolt) and was gonna ditch Pixar for good.

If Pixar wasn’t back on board, i’d want to full-on boycott TS3 – since they’re back in, i’ll just have low expectations.

And look at Ebert’s review(s) of TS3 – even he says it lacks what PIXAR has always done with Toy Story! (Ok, rant ends here – I promise.)

(someone go ahead and say I didn’t gripe when they "kicked Roddenberry upstairs" starting with ST2:TWoK – hey I was too young to understand)

The surgery was a success and my white PSP lives again! 🙂 Now I can give Mom back her spare silver one – after I replace the part I took 😛

(uh, to clarify, Mom gave me one of her spare PSPs to replace mine or use for parts or whatever. I get to give it back as I’d hoped.)

Trying Opera Mobile and Opera Mini on my phone. Somehow have never gotten around to it. So far, pretty impressed.

PSP time in the sitting room 🙂 Terra and I each playing Final Fantasy IX with headphones and Wesley playing Lego Star Wars.

@themantrass FF7-9 are all available on the PlayStation Store for $10 each. 9 came out yesterday, completing the set.

So, a scoop of lime fat free sherbet in a small glass of Sprite is a good idea after all. I suspected it might be. Pic otw.

@Jaeckle It’s pretty tasty. One could even use a taller glass and one scoop lemon, one lime, now that I think of it.

(Btw, i’m recently using a magnifying glass in front of my phone cam lens for drink pics. Sheesh. Next phone MUST have better cam.)

(I keep a mag glass at the bar and even have a couple of those magni-cards in my wallet (LifeHacker.com suggestion) for phone cam close-ups)

If it were Halloween now, my hair is just the right length to dye it black, get a headset mic, leather vest, etc. and be Frank T.J. Mackey.

Erm, but i’m built more like the cop, so, I guess that idea’s out. Maybe a girdle 😀 (HRMPF!)

I still want to get a bathrobe, thermos, paddle game, etc., and be The Jerk. But, what if no one got the joke? Then i’d just be an idiot 😛

I’m tempted to say that after – what? – two years? – of owning a PSP, I finally have a good RPG for it. (FFT:WotL is an SRPG.)

@BanhiDancer yeah, I know some apps have it (mine does, too) and that makes it even harder to understand why the profiles on the site don’t.

Ok, I did some math and my cappuccinos will be a whopping 320% yummier in the new cups I have on order 🙂

(you have to measure diameter of the cup at top, middle, bottom – assign a numerical value to color, finish – divide by cup volume, etc.)

Experimenting with what we’ll call Latte Pops for now – popsicles made of just 1oz espresso, 2oz milk – first trial: need better texture.

I have to google for recipes, but maybe a little cream? Hm. A LITTLE sweetness would be good but want the espresso flavor to come through.

Now, if I could flash freeze, I’d froth the milk. But, I’m assuming the milk would separate before frozen and you’d have part frozen foam.

watching Magnolia with @nurseterra (her 3rd viewing in the last two years). Possibly the top of my list of films I can’t live without.

Btw, this is our first viewing of the Blu-ray of Magnolia. I’ve seen it dozens of times and am surprised by visual details i’m catching.

SPN! Josie & The Pussycats – the director of photography is Matthew Libatique – he’s Aronofsky’s guy – filmed Pi, Requiem for a Dream, etc..

In Josie & the Pussycats, behind Alan Cumming in the cd store (and a couple other shots), is a whole bunch of Space Channel 5 display stuff!

I can’t get over how much Josie in this movie reminds me of a gal friend back home, Rence.

Cooking chicken, wheat penne, sauce with lots of black olives 🙂 , salad of cukes, romas, bell peppers, and my garlic bread. Nummay!!

Drain pasta, turn off fire under sauce, pull garlic bread out of oven, it’s 6:45 – everything done at the same time, on time! Huzzah!

Made breakfast with @nurseterra and had them with iced coffee. We have two days off, today is get stuff done day so we are FREE tomorrow.

Ooooops. That should have read made breakfast burritos with @nurseterra.

Oh and tonight is slumber party! 🙂

After a long time trying many, I’ve finally found a GREAT shopping list app for my phone! 🙂 (sigh… this is what my life has become.)

(There is a shopping prog for the Psion 5 I’ve never found a good replacement for so I’ve still been using it. Another Psion need gone.)

But, hey, I’ve been using a Psion for how many YEARS?? If it still has even a FEW unrivaled apps, that’s really saying something for it.

(Devoted owner of a rare green Psion 5mx Pro – it still goes with me everywhere. I started up the model ladder with a 3a some 15 yrs ago.)

(I never much cared for models that came out after the 5mx Pro, so the ladder stops there for me.)

I look at Washington Park and I see great potential for a nice little nine-hole disc golf course.
